default-jdk-headless software package provides Standard Java or Java compatible Development Kit (headless), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install default-jdk-headless
default-jdk-headless is installed in your system.
Make ensure the default-jdk-headless package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep default-jdk-headless *
You will get with default-jdk-headless package name, version, architecture and description in a table
